Celebrating a Decade of Dedication: STAM Annual Dinner Marks 10 Years of Excellence

The Swimming Teachers’ Association Malaysia (STAM) proudly celebrated a significant milestone at its 10th Anniversary Conference and Gala Dinner, with the theme; Strengthening Community for Aquatic Safety, on the 29th November 2025, in Tropicana Golf & Country Resort, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Invitees were the regional STA representatives from Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, local aquatic affiliations, organizations, and many more.

The celebration began with a warm welcome from the President of STAM, who reflected on the association’s remarkable journey since its inception. From its humble beginnings to becoming a respected platform for swimming teachers, coaches, and aquatic professionals, STAM’s growth has been driven by a shared passion for developing safer and more effective aquatic education throughout Malaysia.

Some of the key highlights of the event were the engaging workshops and hands-on pool practical sessions conducted by esteemed aquatic professionals. Participants gained valuable insights into Open Water Swimming led by AMMJB Head Coach, explored Hong Kong STA’s initiatives in promoting water safety and awareness, and discovered the fundamentals of Freediving through an introductory session by SSI Instructor Chua Zhen Huang, Aqua Rehabilitation presented by HKSTA and Aqua Ai-Chi conducted by TSTA, showcasing innovative aquatic wellness practices.

Members enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to step into the pool and experience these disciplines firsthand. The practical sessions provided a fun and interactive environment for participants to learn new techniques, develop their skills, and gain a deeper appreciation of the diverse applications of aquatic education and therapy. The lively atmosphere and willingness of members to try something new made these sessions among the most memorable moments of the event.

The evening included a gala dinner, where long-serving members, dedicated volunteers, training facilitators, and strategic partners were acknowledged for their invaluable contributions. Their unwavering support and commitment have played a vital role in strengthening the association and expanding its impact towards water safety. Adding to the festive atmosphere were engaging entertainment performances, lucky draw sessions, and appreciation awards. The evening was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and a renewed sense of purpose.

As the evening drew to a close, one message resonated strongly throughout the room: the success of STAM is built upon the collective efforts of its members, partners, and volunteers. Together, they have created waves of positive change that extend far beyond the pool.
